GOODBYE, KIM GUAN

Our beloved KRS member, L/Cpl. De Kim Guan, Senior 2 Batch F, has passed away today (saturday) on 12.45pm due to leukimia disease. He has been fighting so bravely with the illness since years before. He was a very active KRS member, although he still receiving treatment, he insisted to participate in the marching competition which we won the First Prize. He also helped the seniors teaching juniors marching skill. He joined the trip to SMK JPP, Perak for the KRS gathering on 13th of June 2009. In that gathering, he was one of the team representing SBKRS to particpate in the Drama competition, which we got the champion trophy.

We are gathering members to pay our last respect to Kim Guan tomorrow. Those who want to join us please gather tomorrow (Sunday) 9am in front of the school (SMKSB). Ex-seniors are driving so we think there should be enough place. Please wear your full uniform as a respect to Kim Guan who love KRS alot.

Thank you, Kim Guan for your contribution in SBKRS, you will be remembered forever... you are forever the member of SBKRS. We're happy to have you as our member.

Rest in peace ...
Once a cadet, always a cadet.

The 4th SBKRS Power Hand-Over Ceremony

The ceremony, which is the 4th since 2005, is the last active day of the form 5 seniors. In this ceremony, the seniors will pass their duties to the next batch of seniors. The ceremony is divided into 2 parts, the 1st part is the formation ceremony on the tarmac. The main highlight of this part is the power hand-over by the outgoing corps leader to the new corps leader. Then the new corps leader will read the oath in front of the outgoing seniors to promise his/her responsibility to them. After all the cadets salute them, they will march out from the formation. By this time, they are no longer carrying the title of seniors, but the title of "ex-seniors".
This meaningful day on 1st August 2009, although the morning sky seemed gloomy, it did not pull down the atmosphere of all the cadets ! All of them reached the school on time, and the ceremony started off with the flag-raising event. The ceremony still in-charged by the outgoing corps leader, Sgt. Desmond Tan.

The moment of truth... when the outgoing Corps Leader Sgt. Desmond Tan announced : "Dipersilakan saudari Christine Tan ...". Cpl. Christine Tan quickly answered the call and marched out to the front of Desmond. The outgoing Corps Leader passed the Tongkat Kuasa and the Red Sash to her, which are the symbol of authority of SBKRS Corps Leader. Then she received a tray which consist of the Corps Leader's and SBKRS offical stamp cops, the Corps Leader's tag, the SBKRS bank account passbook and atm card, a bunch of keys which included the key of krs room, and also the Golden Service Star. Desmond then marched back to the form 5 seniors' line. Christine ordered all cadets to salute and thanks the form 5 seniors to honour their contributions to SBKRS for so many years. The form 5 seniors marched out from the formation, which marked the end of their cadetship in SBKRS. Christine took over the formation and gave an official speech to mark her the start of her office as the 7th Corps Leader. She dismissed the formation and the ceremony quickly moved on in the open hall.
The first event in the hall was the speech from each of the form 5 seniors, the new Corps Leader and Sir Nicholas. Then WO2 Ho Wing Lok, the Chairman of the Committee Appointment Board, announced the new committee members. The new committee members received their respective symbol of authority, including the tags, the files and the stamp cops.
The new committee members came out in a line in front of all other members for the oath taking event lead by Christine. Then it followed by the SBKRS pledge by all cadets.
The event moved on to the presentation of souvenirs. The souvenirs for this year is a glass shield award and a plush toys for each form 5 senior. The hall event ended with some songs and photo session before they went on to the next and last event - the water games.
We thanks to the form 5 seniors for contributing their precious time to develop SBKRS. Their contributions include the achievements in JPP Gathering, won the marching competition in Sports day, implement the Service Stars, and many more. SBKRS obviously become stronger and better under their leaderships :

  • Warrant Officer 2, Ho Ling Lok - Cadet Officer, Treasurer
  • Staff Sergeant, Tan Kai Leng - Cadet Officer, Secretary
  • Sergeant, Desmond Tan - Corps Leader
  • Sergeant, Chan Hoe Hwa - Deputy Corps Leader
  • Sergeant, Hoh Jun Shen - QM Officer
  • Sergeant, Kan Chan Wai - Activity Officer

Thank You, Seniors.

We wish you all the best in your SPM, your future studies and your careers. Thanks for everything you give to us.

Unforgettable Day ~

Yesterday, 17/7/09 Friday, Pei Yuan KRS reached here around 5 -6 pm. WO2 Ho Wing Lok, Sgt. Desmond, Sgt. Hoe Hwa & Sgt. Jun Shen went to KL Sentral Station to fetch them. Because of the unreasonable price from the hotel, Seniors decided to let them sleep in Wing Lok's house. After settling down, seniors brought them to one restaurant in Menjalara for dinner, then another restaurant for supper... The next stop - Desa parkcity to have some fun there, i mean the playground... All very enjoy there ... Last stop - Mamak stall down here in Taman Sri Sinar... Then they went back to Lok's house to sleep.. at 1.30am
Today, 4.30am, we gathered at Lok's house, after checking the equipments, we walked to the hill with Lok as the guide. The road up to the hill quite exhausting.. we reached the 1st hill top, at around 5.30am.. then the 2nd hill top around 6.20am. We had some chatting up there, took some photos, then we cooked mushroom soup.. Of course Sir Nicholas taught some knowledge about cooking to Pei Yuan KRS.. Too bad we couldnt see any Sunrise because of the heavy haze in KL ... wasted ~

We began the journey down the hill at 7.45am. After reaching the ground zero, we went to Ma7 Restaurant for breakfast.. Thanks for the treat for the drinks from Cpl. Christine !

The activity started later than expected, at 8.45am. Sir Nicholas taught them ikatan, gadjet, and other skills ...

then went on to tali pendek game and rope climbing... all very enjoyed although some of the ppl fingers had light wound ...

then we had tug-of-war with pei yuan KRS, as our SBKRS girls' wish ~ Dunno why they like this so much, haha ~ We also had some photo sessions with them before the activity ended.... Lok and some SBKRS ppl went to dancing class while Pei Yuan KRS went to take some bath, change clothes..
Then Sir Nicholas, Sgt. Desmond and Sgt. Hoe Hwa drive pei yuan krs to Jusco Metro Prima.. they had lunch at KFC... then walked around.. shopping (window) ... That's the last program of the day ... Sir and Desmond drive them to Kepong KTM... Pei Yuan KRS hormat-ed Sir, Desmond and Hoe Hwa, shake hands, say goodbye.. before they boarded the Seremban train to Kl Sentral to catch the inter-state train back to their home ~ which also marked the end of the special activities for Pei Yuan KRS visit...
This blog post is quite simple decribing the activity today, but trust me, the memories for today is beyond words... They will always stay with all the KRS member who involved today ...
Today, is really an Unforgettable Day for both Pei Yuan KRS and SBKRS ... we knew each other better through the activities today.. wish the friendship between Pei Yuan KRS and SBKRS will stay forever...

All the best to Pei Yuan KRS...Thanks for coming
See you again ~

Last Activity Before Power Handover Ceremony

Although last Saturday's activity was the last activity held by outgoing seniors, this activity they came back to teach and give assistance to the senior 2...
The activity started off with ..... RAIN .. haha, quite a bad day for Cpl. Christine Tan because it is the 1st activity incharged by her .. Luckily, the rain stopped at around 8.00am, and they resumed the activity with morning parade. As usual, we had marching and physical training. We had a short rehearsel for the Handover Ceremony next Saturday. The physical training was quite a tough one for you guys, right ?? because it's lead by WO2 Ho Wing Lok and Sgt. Chan Hoe Hwa..
Next we had separate lessons for both juniors and seniors. Juniors learned American Sign Language while Seniors learned radio communications.
Because of the delays caused by the morning shower, the activity was a bit rushing ... The last one was a meeting of seniors and juniors regarding the Handover Ceremony and Singing Competition.
Oh yeah, there's another good news from the announcement before the activity ends :
CONGRATULATIONS TO CPL. CHRISTINE TAN FOR BEING APPOINTED AS THE 7th CORPS LEADER OF SBKRS 2009/2010 !
Wish the new corps leader all the best ~~~
Here are some funny photos of form 5 seniors..

Announcement

To all sbkrs cadets,

Please be informed that we had cancelled our fun fare games for this weekend's smksb carnival due to the heavy "land tax" & "profit tax" imposed by the school. We suggest you to check the status of any club's stall of your concern as the school's last minute policy had caused major changes to the hari kantin.
Anyway, although many of the stalls had been cancelled, we wish all of you will enjoy in the carnival. The krs room will open as planned for your convenience to temporary keep your belongings.

Thank you and have fun !

JPP Gathering 2009 - We're back !

We went to the JPPKRS Gathering on 12th June 2009, with 28... but we came back with 29 ----- THE BEST DRAMA !! haha.. the trophy is 7 feet tall, thanks to JPPKRS juries for awarding sbkrs with the 1st place in Drama Competition.
The notable element in this gathering is the hospitality of JPPKRS. Many of sbkrs members felt stranger to JPPKRS before coming to the gathering, probably the reason of lacking communication between the 2 school krs. But all their worries disappeared when they realised how friendly and nice the JPPKRS are. They prepared accommodations, always there ready to help, and even treated us with nice morning drinks! They also prepared the food for us, we don't even need to worried about the food supply, the foods always there before we came back into the rooms... What a rapid and efficient job...

This Gathering – The Return. Vagabond. Eastern Culture. (漂流。东方文化 之落叶归根)” was participated by Sbkrs (星光), Hua Lian (华联), Poi Lam (培南), Pei Yuan (培元), Perak Girl School (女中), Sam Tet (三德), Kepong Baru (甲洞), Yu Hua (育华), and Tsung Wah (崇华).
All the schools, especially Hua Lian and Poi Lam, were strong competitors for all the contests…

The results are as follows :
1. Best Overall – Hua Lian
2. Best Marching (Male) – Hua Lian
3. Best Marching (Female) – Hua Lian
4. Best Commander (Male) – Hua Lian
5. Best Commander (Female) – Poi Lam
6. Best Gadget – Poi Lam
7. Best Drama – SBKRS
8. Best Banner – Perak Girl School
9. Best Fancy Dress – Poi Lam
10. Best Dancing – Hua Lian
11. Best Singing – Hua Lian
12. Best Discipline – Sam Tet
13. Best Supporting – Hua Lian

The programs were well arranged, everything was scheduled properly, giving us enough time to prepare for the competitions as well as having our meals / breaks. The meals were great ! (Despite some drawbacks for the lunch, hehe …) The crowd there … my god , very fun ! The supporting was very strong from schools like Hua Lian, Poi Lam …. Haha, too bad Sbkrs didn’t join the supporting...

After the gathering, we had breakfast on the next day, then we went to the Keylie’s Castle for a trip ! The buildings there are very nice, but all lacks of safety features… we need to take extra precautions to prevent anything happened… The castle itself its like a maze ... So unbelievable the owner built it all by his own money, imagine this is sbkrs base, haha ... The trip was quite rush, because the bus driver said the maximum until 1130am, so no choice we need to rush a bit, but in a safe manner la of course .. before we boarded the bus, we took the high-school-musical-like photos with the castle at the back + nice weather = nice photo !

Thanks to the bus driver, who was willing to turn back to find Keylie’s Castle although we missed the junction towards it… But too bad at the end of the journey, where we reached the church beside smksb, we found out that one of the paint for the banner was leaked, and the blue paints were all around the back of the bus, including the seat .. so paiseh … so sorry to the bus driver… After we went back, haha … as usual la, some of us, went out to have dinner together at Old Town Cafe... hehe … only 9 of us went , Sir Nicholas, Ah lok, Jun Shen, Hao Hua, Christine, Ho Jia Wei, Charity, Crystal, and Brenda. We talked a lot about the supporting .. haha.. after camp only talk about supporting … anyway, its really a good experience … but I think many will know we have a bigger problem to solve for this camp …

A very thank you to JPPKRS for organizing this gathering, and also to all the schools there, our friendship become stronger after this gathering .. hope we can meet again … Sbkrs and all other krs are always good friends, forever ...
I also need to thanks to all Sbkrs member who made all these come true.. without the participation from you guys, we wouldnt have winning this trophy. Especially to the Drama Team, good job ! for Dancing Team, Banner Team and Singing (Hao Hua), you guys did the best too although didn't win the competition ! To Sbkrs, you guys are all champions ! Next time we gonna rox their house ! haha ....

Last but not least, I may quote the famous motto of Perak krs, together with Sbkrs’ motto :
Once a Cadet, Always a Cadet
One for all, All for one

All the best, SBKRS !

Thursday 11 June 2009

Do You Still Remember Those Days... ?

Do you still remember the days where Pn. Radiah still in SMKSB ? Do you remember how much she helped us ? Do you know how supportive of her to SBKRS ?

Puan Radiah, principal of SMKSB for 2006 and 2007, I can never forget the days when she was here with us. Although I'd already graduated from SMKSB when she's transferred to this school, I salute her for her supportive to SBKRS, she helped me a lot in developing SBKRS...
Some brief info, Pn Radiah's husband is an Army Senior Officer, not sure what's his rank, but I know its high... She is a former principal/PK (not sure) in Methodist Girl School. She is the first principal i ever seen that willing to become a throwing target during the Hari Kantin in 2006/7, to help Pengawas earn money, while other years' principal of SMKSB kept a serious profile...
As I mentioned above, she likes SBKRS very much, she gave SBKRS first-ever Sports Day Marching Champion in 2006, a trophy that meant a lot to SBKRS, to me. She ended my 5 year thirst of beating scout in this marching competition...
Besides that, she too, showed her support to SBKRS when we won the Best Discipline Award in SMJK Tsung Wah KRS Gathering 2006. Although she knew that we went without proper procedure, she showed her appreciation to our hard work, especially she approved the trophy-presenting ceremony in weekly assembly. Apart from that, she talk about how good is SBKRS, how discipline we are, in major events, like in the student orientation, which helped us promote KRS to new students, and also in Hari Koko... She brings our SBKRS performance to the highest peak since it founded in 2001. You can read our SBKRS history, you can see there's significant rising of performance during these 2 years....
Another big contribution from her, its the SBKRS room we're having now. For ex-seniors, mostly will remember the days we "dig" into our "room" below the staircase.. We cant even stand inside there and we built it with our own money and effort WITHOUT any financial support from the school. I applied for a bigger room since 2003, but got rejected. I applied again in 2004 and 2005, rejected too. Once she came in, the application straight away approved, and we're so happy we even made a celebration in canteen. Without this room, we have no space for improvement, especially when come across the storage of the equipments and bags..
This is the 2nd year since she left SMKSB, and whatever good practice and helpful environment for Koko that she left behind, had been wiped off totally by some teachers for their own reason.
The photo above is the Night Farewell Party for her, we used our own money, and we think its worth it. The photo below, is the souvenir that we gave her, bought by me, and modified by me, specially for her...

Puan Radiah, we will never forget what you did to us, you helped us alot, your significant contribution will be recorded into our history to appreciate your kindness and supportive to us. You gave us hope and light when we need it the most. Without you, we will never reach where we are now.
as I couldnt find any contact number of yours, I can only wish you all the best in your career and your life.

Thank You.

Regards,
Sir Nicholas Chua

Wesak Day tugas - Day 2

It wasn't lame, it wasn't boring either. It was just great. Our group of SBKRS went to duty for Wesak Day and on the 2nd day it was the most busiest day for us as we duty from morning 7 a.m. until at night 11 p.m. we did overtime because we helped out to clean up after the performance. Each and every section did their duty very well and we had it all under control. Some juniors had it a little rough but they did a great job too. Auxilliary QM and FSU was doing their duty as well and we hope next year we can do the same. A lot of us was tired at first but we pulled it through. Thank You To Everyone That Helped Out ~!! ^^
